CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA - May 2013

Aquatica, SeaWorld's new water park in Chula Vista, upgrades and freshens its look with some help from SlideRenu products! SeaWorld bought the old Knott's Soak City late last year and is spending millions of dollars transforming the waterslide park into a SeaWorld-brand theme park. The biggest difference locals will see at Aquatica is in the presentation. The landscaping is being redone and the old, faded slides are getting a makeover. "Every slide is given a paint job. We're inspecting them. They're being smoothed out," said Cromwell. While new rides will be added, Aquatica is rebranding the existing rides to match the tropical theme with exotic names like Walhalla Wave, Kata's Kookaburra Cove and Hooroo Run.

FORT JACKSON, COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – March 2013

Fort Jackson www.jackson.army.mil in Columbia, South Carolina is the largest military training base in the United States.  The Army trains 60% of all new recruits here.  A water park, Palmetto Falls, was built on the base about 8 years ago for these young recruits and is also used by the public in the nearby communities as well.  Many of the water slides, play features and water slide tower have faded and were in need of a face lift. SlideRenu was awarded the project to re-surface and re-paint 4 water slides, 2 water mushrooms, 2 water play features and to clean / seal the galvanized water slide tower.  SlideRenu completed the project well ahead schedule by putting all of its Certified Applicator resources on the project for 2 weeks.

WILLIAMSFIELD, OHIO – June 2012

Pymatuning Adventure Resort www.myohiocamping.com located in Williamsfield, Ohio was recently purchased by an investor group last year. This Spring the new owners made a number of capital improvements in the resort including the refinishing of the three 350 ft. water slides. These slides are over 25 years old but are still considered the “centerpiece” of the resort. SlidePros, acertified applicator of SlideRenu, prepared the interior surface and the Resort maintenance team applied the White Satin ColorShield and clear chlorine resistant ChloraShield. The exterior of the slides will be finished this Fall.

BROWNSTOWN, INDIANA – June 2012

The City of Brownstown, Indiana have been putting off the refinishing of their + 20 year old water slide for the past couple of years. They contacted SlideCare in May to refinish the slide before the pool opened on Memorial Day. SlideRenu’s Certified Applicator, 8 Block Maintenance, was able to rearrange their Spring schedule and complete the job in time just prior to opening day. The reason the City chose SlideRenu was that the cost to refinish the slide versus replacing it was about 10% of the replacement cost … a significant savings of over $100,000! Current prices for a new slide range from $800 - $ 1,000 a linear foot.

SlideCare guided him through the surface prep steps whereby several sections of the slide had to be removed and sandblasted down to the fiberglass mesh in their maintenance shop. These sections and the entire interior surface of the slide were primed with SlideRenu® ABC primer, top coated with ColorShield Bubblegum Pink and sealed with ChloraShield. The waterpark is planning to refinish other slides in need of repair with SlideRenu® 3 Coat System next year.

MIAMISBURG, OHIO – MAY 2012

The Sycamore Aquatic Center located in Miamisburg, Ohio opened in June 1997. It features a 174 ft. tube slide and a 133 ft. body slide. In just 5 years since the aquatic center’s opening, both slides lost their original gloss and color. The main reason for this premature loss of gloss and color degradation is due to formulation changes in gel-coat resins required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Water slides are fading at a much more rapid pace and maintenance personnel are constantly looking for longer term solutions to protect and enhance the appearance of their investment. SlideRenu® ColorShield and ChloraShield coatings are CHLORINE RESISTANT WET LOOK COATINGS that have been specifically formulated for gel-coat water slides … and that is why the aquatic director said, “ there is no other choice on the market today … we are going with SlideRenu®!”

CITY OF WILLOUGHBY, OHIO – MAY 2012

The City of Willoughby www.willoughbyohio.com was one of the first municipalities in the greater Cleveland area to install a water slide over 20 years ago. The water slide was resurfaced only 3 years ago with an “off the shelf” epoxy marine paint by a local painting contractor. At the end of the 3rd season, the epoxy coating began to peel, fade, chalk and the seam repairs posed a safety hazard to the patrons. The City selected SlideRenu® because of coatings durability and warranty against peeling, chalking and fading. The City also decided to have the joints permanently sealed with PermaJoint Sealer™ so they would never have to re-calk the seams again and to save on their water bill due to leaky joints that were previously caulked with a maintenance caulk. The slide tower is scheduled to be re-painted in the Fall of 2012.

LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO – May 2012

The City of Las Cruces operates four different pool complexes. The East Mesa complex houses the city’s largest outdoor water slide. Darker colors, such as the city’s purple slide tend to fade more rapidly, especially in the intense New Mexico sun. The city maintenance department wanted to halt the gel-coat from losing its deep purple color on both the interior and exterior surfaces of the slide. SlideCare, LLC recommended our clear chlorine resistant ChloraShield gel-coat sealer for the outside and our solid ColorShield for the interior. SlidePros of New Mexico, a certified applicator of SlideRenu®, completed the project in 5 days to the satisfaction of the maintenance staff.

The City contacted SlideCare, LLC to discuss various options and settled on having the interior of the slide rejuvenated with our clear chlorine resistant ChloraShield™ gel-coat sealer and the exterior surface of the slide refinished with ColorShield™. CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES, GALVESTON, TEXAS – APRIL 2012

SlideCare, LLC has been providing water slide restoration products to Carnival Cruise Lines for the past 3 years. Due to the intense UV rays of the Caribbean route, salt water and “super chlorination” sanitation methods used on the cruise ship Magic, the gel-coat on the purple kiddie slide and fiberglass steps on the aquatic play feature prematurely faded after only 9 months at sea! The housekeeping crew called SlideCare to see what could be done to bring back the WET LOOK SHINE and gloss. We recommended sanding and descaling the kiddie slide with SlideDetergent and Calcitrol and then sealing the slide with ChloraShield, our clear chlorine resistant sealer. The fiberglass steps were also rejuvenated. The results were nothing short of amazing! Click here to view a powerpoint presentation about this project.

In 2000, a Family Park was added which included 6 water slides, a splash playground and lazy river.  The chief engineer contracted with SlideCare to refinish the slides, something their maintenance staff could not do because of the significant amount of calcium silicate that had accumulated on the slides due to their proximity to the Arabian Gulf and the intense UV rays from the sun during the 30-40C summer weather.  SlideCare has been retained to oversee the slide maintenance activities during their annual shutdown period.

The recreation director contacted SlideCare to see if there was anything on the market that could be applied to brighten the dull faded color and magnify the shine of their slides. SlideCare recommended their revolutionary Chlora Shield, a clear chlorine resistant gel-coat sealer that stops oxidation and brings back the WET LOOK SHINE to any waterslide no matter how old it is. RAY TWINNEY RECREATION COMPLEX – Newmarket, Ontario – Canada – September 2011

The Ray Twinney Recreation Complex, www.newmarket.ca is a popular recreation facility in the Town of Newmarket that features a large indoor pool, diving well and a 145’ open body slide.  Indoor water parks are “closed environments” and require more frequent maintenance than outdoor water parks.  Chlorine and other pool chemicals when mixed with high levels of humidity quickly cause water slides and metal aquatic surfaces to lose color and become permanently oxidized.  As the town maintenance staff found out, no amount of waxing could bring back the color so they appointed SlideCare to refinish the interior and exterior surfaces during their annual maintenance shutdown period.  The town chose to re-theme the slide with their official town colors; blue for the exterior and green for the interior.  SlidePros-CANADA, certified applicator located in Oshawa, Ontario, completed the renovation in approximately one week.

AQUATIC PARK – The Colony, Texas – March 2011

Less than 5 years ago, The Colony purchased a multi-tier aquatic splash pod.  Each year, the powder coating finish progressively continued to weather to a point where Elise Knox, City Aquatics Manager, was concerned that the exposed metal would eventually rust and pose a safety hazard to their guests … not to mention its unsightly appearance.  This is not an uncommon situation for most municipalities as most OEM’s of aquatic play structures do not use high-performance chlorine resistant paint.   After checking references and meeting on-site with SlidePros, SlideCare Certified Applicator, Elise selected SlideCare over other companies based on their references, work quality, proprietary surface prep / 3 coat offshore platform paint system, warranty and ability to perform the work within their tight budget. CITY OF LAKEWAY – Texas – November 2010

Located in the heart of the city, the Lakeway Swim Center installed 2 outdoor water slides about 5 years ago to expand the amenities of this small town. Over the years, the intense heat of the Texas sun has caused these fiberglass gel-coat slides to prematurely fade. UV rays are deadly to gel-coat because it causes a chemical reaction which breaks down the styrene and inorganic pigments contained in the gel-coat. Jessica Blair, Aquatics Manager, contacted SlideCare because she didn’t want to put the same coating on the slides and have them fail in another 5 years or less (gel-coat installed in the field is not the same gel-coat that is applied under factory controlled conditions by the OEM). Because she didn’t want to change the aquatic theme, she selected our Moody Blue off of our standard color chart. SlidePros, our certified applicator, recoated the slide well within their shutdown window.

Having operated for over 25 years, the water slide has been one of the main attractions at the hotel since it opened. David Abalos, Water Features Manager, wanted to preserve the slide's historical place at the hotel and, at the same time, protect and extend its useful life. SlideRenu® was contacted to resurface the interior and exterior of slide. The hotel selected a soft Smokey Topaz Tan color for the interior and a Charcoal color that matched the volcanic rocks for the exterior skin.

KINGS ISLAND - Cincinnati, Ohio – May 2009

There are two fully enclosed translucent fiberglass tube body slides that wrap around each other in a pretzel-like manner in the water park at Kings Island (www.visitkingsisland.com). Park management wanted to bring back the luster and shine of these unique slides without enclosing the tubes. Closed, dark, long and twisting water slide flumes have been known to have an adverse physical effect on riders, namely dizziness. SlideRenu recommended its Clear Shield coating which would allow the tubes to remain translucent, as they were designed to be, while returning the high-gloss finish to the exterior fiberglass skin. The water park also has 5 run outs at the end of 2 pretzel-like slides which were refinished with Color Shield. The Maintenance Manager selected Really Teal which matched the original translucent color perfectly.

ST. ALBERT HOTEL – Edmonton, Manitoba – January 2009

The owner was concerned about the long term effects on the exterior fiberglass skin from the aggressive atmospheric chloramines in their indoor aquatic center. Clear Shield was applied to rehydrate the gel coat and protect the slide from the aggressive chloramines which after only one year have already made the slide look dull and lifeless.
